Our Community School

Being a Community School

Truman Middle School is proud to be a Community School, bringing together our school, families, and community partners to support the whole child. This means connecting students and families with resources, services, extended learning opportunities, establishing systems of support, and meaningful partnerships that support academic success, health and well-being, and a strong sense of community.  Review the APS Community School policy.

Our Community School Council

Truman Middle School is building a strong Community School model that brings together students, families, staff, and community partners to create more opportunities and support for our school community. As our new Community School Impact Coordinator for the 2026/2027 school year, Ms. Nat Rivera helps build these connections and is leading the launch of Truman’s new Community School Council, a space where families, staff, students, and community members can share ideas, build partnerships, and help shape the future of Truman. Please stay tuned for updates as we build Truman’s 2026–2027 Community School Council! Meetings will offer a virtual option, and there is no expectation to attend every time.

We invite you to be part of building our Community School Council! If you can join us even once this year, we would love to have your voice in the room physically or virtually!
